06-16 Twickenham Venus

This figure is borrowed from Diego Velazquez's famous "Rokeby Venus". My sculptress friend, Graziella Curreli, said she looks like she's wearing a very close-fitting cage, or perhaps she's sculpted in mosaic tiles. The "wireframe" structure, derived from computer modelling, is generated entirely by hand. It's a case of feeling one's way across the form and adjusting the contours as you go. They do create a very sculptural effect, helped along by the stripes of the mattress, colour saturation, shading and contrast.
