I have always enjoyed painting portraits and have refined my egg tempera technique, adopting a very classical approach. The resulting portraits are complex, layered, and sculptural and retain a strong flavour of the raw materials used in their creation. The figures and faces emerge from the subtly tinted canvas with uncanny realism, evoking the living presence of the subject.
